Oh My Beverly Cleary!

I owe @renatasnacks a thank you for giving this post its title – it’s part of what she tweeted in response to what I’m sharing here. Which is something that I made for @bunnybrarian. If you don’t follow or friend or whatever other librarians on any social network, then you’re missing out on some wonderful relationships. These relationships have inspired me oodles both professionally and personally.

And speaking of wonderful relationships, there are fabulous female relationships in a comic series called Lumberjanes. It’s quirky, fun, and full of ladies kickin’ all sorts of booty. The first trade is out and deserves a place in your library’s graphic novel collection. Each issue the Lumberjanes earn a special badge that appears on the back cover that relates to something they accomplished within the story. I love reading the comic and then flipping it over to see the new badge. And yes, sometimes I peek at the badge before reading.

Anywho, all this leads to @bunnybrarian commenting that she had just gotten hushed at a librarian conference. I think that being hushed is something that happens to a lot of librarians out there (me for sure). And I responded to her that there should be a special Lumberjane badge for this. She responded that maybe I should make one.

And I did.

I really unabashedly adore this. I shared it on several social media sites, but wanted to be sure that it had a more permanent place on my blog.

And as always, feel free to use this for yourself or your library.

Or go out, read Lumberjanes if you haven’t already (reread it if you have), and then come back and download this badge.
