I am so excited that an Indigenous language is the first new set of signs for 2021!!!
You may also notice that a few more signs have been added to my traditional set. This is a result of checking my color contrasts using WebAIM. I knew that some of my original color choices were bad for those with visual disabilities, but I dragged my heels in fixing this. Well, I’m determined that my new site and content will be more disability-aware so that as many people as possible can enjoy my work.
But back to the Dakota translation of Libraries Are For Everyone. Jessica, a midwestern librarian, reached out to a Dakota elder for this translation. A huge thanks to both of them for making this sign set possible!
